Malen M. (Shaffer) LeVan

Malen M. LeVan, 63, of Catawissa passed away on Thursday December 19, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was born April 27, 1962 in Bloomsburg a daughter of Carolyn (Kyttle) Pugh of Bloomsburg, and the late Rodney Shaffer. 

She graduated from Columbia Montour Vocational School studying in horticultural class of 1980. Malen worked at Geisinger Medical Center in EVS. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, making crafts, reading, and was currently transcribing the Bible, but most of all loved spending time with her two boys.

Malen is survived by her husband Mark A. LeVan, whom she married March 3, 2001, mother Carolyn, two sons; Mitchell Walp of Norfolk, VA, Caleb LeVan of Catawissa, granddaughter Madeline Walp, three siblings; Susan Oman of Bloomsburg, Rodney Shaffer of Bloomsburg, Thomas Pugh of Macungie, PA, and numerous nieces.

Services will be Wednesday December 24, 2025 at 11:00 amat the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa, with Pastor Tim Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
